Although it will be much overdue, I'll be doing a mega post tomororw for A-Z to catch up. This past week was a nightmare. I had to deal with 104 degree fevers for 3 days from my son, jury duty and being put on a jury, food poisoning for the kids, which meant vomiting into the middle of the night, and some other stuff that just isn't worth mentioning. But I really do want to finish this out, so expect T, U, V, W, X, and Y tomorrow. :D
Hope everyone is doing well!

A-Z Challenge: R and S Movies: Real Genius, St. Elmo's Fire, Sixteen Candles, and Some Kind of Wonderful!
I've decided that Saturdays just aren't working for me on this challenge, since this is twice now that I haven't gotten around to doing my posts on Friday night. So, I'll throw a R in here, but today's post is dedicated to fabulous 80s S movies, one of which has my favorite screen kiss of all time.
The first iconic New Adult movie - 7 recent college graduates who have no flippin' clue what to do or how to manage the real world after graduation. A classic, though not the best John Hughes movie.
This is one of my favorite John Hughes movie, although my thoughts have changed on it over time because Jake Ryan did some pretty sleezeball things in that movie that hardly makes him leading man material. Oh, well, I still love it.
Oh, Some Kind of Wonderful, my heart swoons...this is my FAVORITE John Hughes movie of all time, and that's saying a lot. Plus, this movie has all-time-favorite kissing scene in a movie (and yes, I think it beats the notebook):
Seriously, this kiss was fan-yourself-hot.
Okay, gotta work now. (Blech!)

A-Z Challenge: Q - Quiet Riot, Quarterback Princess, and Quasar!
I have to admit, this one almost did me in. I was sitting here thinking that all of these letters (except the dreaded X) should be easy, and then I hit Q and was stumped. Off the top of my head, I couldn't think of ANYTHING that started with Q. So, I looked up Q in a dictionary, trying to see if any of the words stood out as something from my childhood...and then the ideas hit, one after another.
Quiet Riot - while never a huge fan of the band, I do love the Mental Health song, which I first heard on Footloose. Still love the song!
And then this fab movie with Helen Hunt about a girl who wants to play quarterback on the football team and faces all kinds of obstacles and roadblocks by the people thinking it's just not right. Of course, by the end of the season, most people have fallen for the little darling and she's elected their homecoming princess, right before her family moves away. Yes, I'm slightly mocking the storyline, but it's still a really good movie that I enjoy watching. Definitely challenges the preconceived gender roles still prevalent in the 80s (some still today).
And then there's Quasar. While I can't say I loved this game, I can say that I used to play it obsessively when my mom and dad used to have their bowling league nights and they brought me and the sis with them. What else was there to do with 2 hours of my night?
Thanks for stopping by!

A-Z Challenge: P - Pretty In Pink, Punky Brewster, and Parachute Pants!
And we're here with the letter P today, folks...

And then there was Punky Brewster, the lovable girl who was abandoned by her mother (ouch!), went to live on her own with her dog Brandon in an apartment, and was discovered by the grouchy apartment building manager. She ends up moving in with him and winning his heart, finding the family she's so desperate for. She was so fashionable with her mismatched sneakers and rainbow colored style. I wanted to be Punky Brewster!

And then there were these parachute pants, which were all the rage and splattered all over the TV screen, worn by all the high-fashion celebrites. I just...yeah, I never got this one.

A-Z Challenge: O - Oversized shirts, Overalls, and Oh, I forgot!
Well, in all my N hate yesterday, I forgot my absolute favorite thing that starts with N from my childhood - NKOTB! But I found a way to make it relate to my O post. But first...

Now there's the other O thing that was awesome, and relates to my NKOTB topic:
OVERALLS!

And that was the 80s style, right there - one side hooked correctly, one hanging down loose.

I remember loving this picture, but I laugh when I look back at it. Jordan, where the hell is your shirt? Shirtless overalls were never a style. But that's hardly the first or last fashion disaster my beloved boys made...you can check out a huge thread of them at this link.
Take care!

A-Z Challenge: N - NEON and Naked Eyes!
N...oh, how I loathe thee, because you have the one fashion trend that I wish had stayed burried, but no, it's totally 'hot' right now. That's right; I'm talking about:

The dreaded NEON! I had to use this image, really, because I had a skirt almost exactly like this, but it gets even better. Mine had a layer of pink, orange, yellow and green, and came with a neon pink tank top. Oh, and just because I wasn't blinding enough, I wore these to go with it:
You weren't cool until you had your neon wayfarer sunglasses.
Head meet desk.
Anyway, moving on...

Naked Eyes with Always Something There to Remind Me. I hate this song, but find it amazing that every single movie that is supposed to take place in the 80s has to have this song.
Oh well, hope everyone else has a great N day because mine makes me make funny faces at the computer. Blech!

A-Z Challenge: Hitting both L and M today...
So, I was just exhausted this weekend and didn't have time to put up my letter L on Saturday, so I'm doing both L and M today:

Two more of my favorite movies from the 80s - The Legend of Billie Jean and Masters of the Universe (I was a HUGE He-Man fan).

| Found the socks at Costume Shopper |
Layered slouch socks (one color on top of one foot, on the bottom on the other to make it extra special) and the Madonna look. Essentially, if Madonna wore it in the 80s, it was cool and people wanted to dress like her.
And to round it out, I have Cindy Lauper (of Girls Just Want to Have Fun fame) and Motley Crue who came out with so many great hits that it was hard to pick just one.
Thanks for stopping by!
