Blog Tour stop from Katie Hamstead, author of Kiya: Rise of a New Dynasty

A while back, I was part of the cover reveal for KIYA Rise of a New Dynasty.  Now, Katie Hamstead is back on the blog, sharing with us ten ways she draws inspiration for her writing.

  1. Music. Wherever I go I always have music blaring. Since I was a kid this was the way I daydreamed, so it’s my primary source of inspiration.
  2. Dreams. Yup, simple as that; night time dreams.
  3. My own past. Good or bad, my own experiences often pop into my manuscripts.
  4. Travel. When I was a travel agent, I had the opportunity to study some amazing and beautiful places. These places help inspire settings and stories.
  5. TV Shows and Movies. A well written, carefully plotted movie or TV series really brings in the inspiration, and on that same note…
  6. Novels.
  7. History. I’m a bit of a nerd, so I love looking up history of people, places and things. History often comes into play in many of my stories, even if I modified it into fiction.
  8. Aspirations for the future. What better way to visualize what I want for life?
  9. Australia. Because it’s awesome, and I miss it.
  10. My family and friends. My characters often take on certain traits of people I know. What better way to make them real than to give them a piece of someone I love?

And in case you missed it, here's the information about her book and where you can now purchase it!

Kiya: Rise of a New Dynasty (Kiya Trilogy Book #3)
Author: Katie Hamstead
Publisher: Curiosity Quills Press
Genre: New Adult Historical Romance
Release Date: February 25th 2014

Tut has grown into his position as Pharaoh, but he is a wild young man. Naomi fears for him, not only because of his recklessness, but because he has put his trust in Ay–the man determined to destroy Naomi—despite her and Horemheb advising against it.

Meanwhile, death and slavery hang over Naomi and her family. With fear of the booming Hebrew numbers causing talk of enslaving them, conscription is reinstated and Naomi fears for the lives of her other children. Especially since Ay's children are now adults, and just as dangerous as their father. They threaten to take Itani, conspire against Tut, and pushing for power.
But Tut is in trouble. While Ay's daughter draws Horemheb's attention, and Naomi deals with the struggles of her family, everyone's distraction could spell death for the young Pharaoh.

About the Author:

Born and raised in Australia, Katie’s early years of day dreaming in the “bush”, and having her father tell her wild bedtime stories, inspired her passion for writing.

After graduating High School, she became a foreign exchange student where she met a young man who several years later she married. Now she lives in Arizona with her husband, daughter and their dog.

She has a diploma in travel and tourism which helps inspire her writing. She is currently at school studying English and Creative Writing.

Katie loves to out sing her friends and family, play sports and be a good wife and mother. She now works as a Clerk with a lien company in Arizona to help support her family and her schooling. She loves to write, and takes the few spare moments in her day to work on her novels.
